Dress Code

(amended February 2009)

 DINING ROOM (ANNEX & GREEN ROOM)

Smart, casual attire acceptable, except when a specific event states that jacket and/or tie must be worn.

CLUBHOUSE

Attire acceptable on the golf course is also acceptable in the Tillinghast Lounge, the Bar and on the Verandah.

Ladies are allowed to wear fashion hats or visors, other than caps, in the clubhouse.  Gentlemen are not permitted to wear hats in the Clubhouse lounges and dining areas, with the exception of cultural and/or religious headgear.

Children aged 12 and over shall dress in accordance with the adult regulations. Children under the age of 12 must wear neat and tidy clothes.

Denim is acceptable in the Curling Lounge, the Bistro, on the Verandah, meeting  rooms and in transit to the locker rooms.  Pants must be neat and presentable.  They may not be torn, frayed, ripped, tattered or dirty and must be worn snuggly at the waist or above the hips.

 Footwear is to be worn at all times.       

BANQUETS, WEDDINGS, MEETINGS AND CONFERENCES

 The Club's Dress Code must be adhered to for all private functions.

SCARBORO GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE IF THE DRESS CODE IS NOT MET. 

ENFORCEMENT: ALL OF THE AB0VE REGULATIONS WITH RESPECT TO ATTIRE IN THE CLUBHOUSE HAVE BEEN APPROVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS.  MANAGEMENT AND STAFF HAVE BEEN INSTRUCTED TO STRICTLY ENFORCE THESE REGULATIONS. 

Members should direct all complaints concerning dress code violations to a member of the Management personnel.

Dress Code – Curling Rink/Lounge

Ladies
Dress slacks, skirts, kilts, turtlenecks, sweaters, denim pants and curling outfits. Denim must be presentable and not torn in any way.

Prohibited Ladies’ Attire
Sweatpants, rugger type pants, leggings, ski-pants and T-shirts.

Gentlemen
Dress slacks, turtlenecks, sweaters , denim pants and curling outfits.

Prohibited Gentlemen's Attire
Sweatpants, rugger type pants, ski pants, *cargo pants.

Scarboro Golf and Country Club reserves the right to refuse access to the curling rink if the dress code is not met.

Enforcement
All of the above regulations with respect to attire have been approved by the Board of Directors. Management and staff have been instructed to strictly enforce these regulations.

Dress Code – Golf Course (amended January 2009)

Ladies

Golf skirt or Bermuda length shorts (no shorter than 4" above the knee), dress slacks, knickers or Capri pants. Socks must be knee-high, French cuff or sockettes. Appropriate golf shirt (collar, crew neck or turtleneck). A sleeveless shirt must have a collar. Tailored shirts that are designed to be worn outside of the pants or shorts must be fitted below the hips to not allow a bare midriff during a swing.

Prohibited Ladies’ Attire
Calf or gymnasium type socks are strictly prohibited. Tennis, *cargo pants and cargo shorts, gym type shorts, denim, rugger type pants, tank tops, low scoop necked shirts and T-shirts. Crop-tops (no bare midriff) are not permitted. Any clothing bearing large non-golf related logo(s) is prohibited.  All logos are required to be understated and in good taste.

 Gentlemen

Golf slacks or Bermuda length shorts (no shorter than 3" above the knee). Socks must be knee-high, French cuff or sockettes. Appropriate golf shirt (collar, mock collar or turtleneck). Shirts are to be tucked in neatly at all times, unless     they are designed to be worn outside.

Prohibited Gentlemen’s Attire
Calf or gymnasium type socks are strictly prohibited. Tennis, *cargo pants or cargo shorts, gym type shorts, denim, rugger type pants and T-shirts. Any clothing bearing large non-golf related logo(s) is prohibited.  All logos are required to be understated and in good taste.

Footwear
Soft cleats only are permitted on Club property. (Metal spikes are prohibited.) Appropriate golf sandals are permitted on the golf course with socks optional for both men and women.

Ladies’ and Gentlemen’s Headwear
Only golf related headwear permitted. Headwear may not be worn backwards or sideways anywhere on Club property.

Scarboro Golf and Country Club may refuse access to the golf course if the dress code is not met.

* Cargo pants/shorts are baggier, permitting free movement, and have large belt                         loops and several additional patch pockets.
